Tiles
Game #483
How to Play Tiles
The board is full of tiles, and each one is built from a base color plus a few small shapes stacked on top. Click a tile to select it, then click a second tile to try to match them.
Two tiles match if they share at least one thing in common, whether that's the base color or one of the shapes sitting on top. When they match, only the shared parts disappear. If a tile still has layers left after a match, it stays selected so you can keep chaining into your next move.
Matching two or more things at once earns bonus points and keeps your combo going. Break the chain by picking a tile with nothing in common, and your combo resets back to zero.
The goal is to clear every layer from every tile on the board. Once a tile has nothing left on it, it's out of play for good.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tiles?
Tiles is a matching puzzle where every tile is made up of a base color and a handful of small shapes layered on top. Your job is to pair up tiles that share something in common and clear the whole board.
How do I know if two tiles match?
Select one tile, then look at any other tile on the board. If a small colored badge shows up on it, that tile shares something with your first pick, whether it's the background color or one of the shapes. No badge means no match.
What happens when I match tiles that share more than one thing?
Matching more than one shared element at once counts as a bigger match and earns a lot more points than a single match. It's worth pausing for a second to look for those bigger matches instead of taking the first pair you spot.
What is a combo?
Every successful match in a row builds your combo higher, and each one adds a small bonus on top of your score. Picking a tile that shares nothing with your current selection breaks the combo and sends it back to zero, so it pays to plan a few moves ahead.
Is there a new Tiles puzzle every day?
No, Tiles isn't on a daily schedule. There's a large batch of puzzles ready to play whenever you want, and you can jump between them freely using the game menu.
About Tiles
Tiles takes the classic satisfaction of a matching game and layers on a bit more depth. Instead of matching identical pairs, every tile carries a few different traits at once, a background color and a couple of small shapes stacked on top, so there's usually more than one way to clear a pair from the board.
That layered design is also what makes chaining so much fun. When a tile still has something left on it after a match, it stays selected, which means a sharp eye for shared colors and shapes can turn one good move into a long streak. Building a big combo without breaking it is where the real challenge lives.
On WordGames.net you'll find a big rotating collection of Tiles boards, each with its own color palette and shape set, so the puzzle looks and feels a little different every time you play. There's no daily schedule holding you back, so jump in whenever you've got a few minutes to spare.
